Our Story
Thorisho Makgati Attorneys was founded by Thorisho Macmillan Makgati. Mr Makgati graduated with an LLB degree from the University of Venda in the year 2013. He then proceeded to Durban, where he did his Practical Legal Training.
He later served his articles of clerkship at Phokoane Phasha Attorneys in
Polokwane, until he was admitted as an attorney in February 2016.
He then worked at Phokoane Phasha Attorneys as a Professional Assistant until August 2016 when he joint M.F Maloka Attorneys as an associate.
Through the much needed experience that Mr Makgati acquired from both
Phokoane Phasha and M.F Maloka Attorneys, Mr Makgati decided that it would be prudent if he opened his own law firm and thus Thorisho Makgati Attorneys
was born.
Mr Makgati is currently the managing director of our firm and also heading the Estate Department, Property Department and the Third Party Claims’
Department.
Mr Makgati is assisted by Mr Kgadi Phaka, who is an admitted attorney of the
High Court of South Africa. Like Mr Makgati, Mr Phaka graduated from the
University of Venda with an LLB degree during the year 2015.
Mr Phaka then attended Law School in Polokwane wherein he completed his
Practical Legal Training Course. Upon completion of his PLT, Mr Phaka then
proceeded to serve his articles of clerkship at Makwela Mabotja Attorneys for a period of one year.
Mr Phaka was then admitted as an attorney in early 2017. Upon his admission he was appointed as a Professional Assistant at the University of Turfloop Campus Clinic where he worked for little over a year until he finally joined our firm in September 2018.
Mr Phaka is currently heading our Litigation Department
